“One Man’s Treasure...”

Ever since I was a teenager I collected “old things”. As I spent many a weekend “dumpster diving”, combing through flea markets and bidding at local auctions, I was always fascinated by the stuff that some would consider outdated or trash. I couldn’t see it that way - I didn’t understand why we would send stuff to the landfill – when it was something that could be appreciated, used or repurposed in some way. To me, it was throwing away pieces of history. The quality and workmanship of these old things can’t be matched today nor can the detail and the design. I have collected beautiful pottery, antique furniture, ephemera, toys, and other collectibles and I have seen many changes over the years regarding the value and the interest of these items. Years ago, I couldn’t imagine taking a paint brush to a beautiful piece of finished wood furniture, but I can see that new generations don’t want their grandmother’s antiques – although recently, many are starting to pair old with new, but the restoration has changed to accommodate a new charm. I love the eclectic look of mixing eras and love the idea of transforming something old into something unique – breathing new life into it so it can be around for another 75 years or more. Like converting an old dresser into a bathroom vanity or painting and recovering old chairs to bring them back to function. As for vintage collectibles, not only do they make awesome accent décor pieces, they can spark emotions that take you on a trip down memory lane – they simply evoke nostalgia. And if you’re looking to accent your wardrobe, there’s vintage costume jewelry -- unique, quality made, beautifully designed and still relevant – not to mention, cost less, and I’d say, they’re a bit more interesting.

I love the “hunt” and appreciate being able to share my finds with you. So keep checking in for new treasures and just let me know if there are any unique or collectible items you are looking for.
