Rare Vintage Hand-Painted Merit China Teacup and Saucer - Made in Occupied Japan

$30.00

This is a lovely blue cup and saucer by Merit China with Moriage decorations of peach roses and green stems and leaves. Moriage is a slip decoration applied on Japanese porcelain in look not unlike 'cake frosting' in which a diluted clay has been applied for a three-dimensional effect. The inside of the cup is pale green at the top fading to white. The cup and saucer are both marked with the “Merit Made in Occupied Japan” mark.

In excellent antique condition with no chips, stains, or cracks, this vibrant colored cup and saucer measure approximately: (Teacup) 4-3/4 L x 2-14" W and (Saucer) 5-1/4".

A rare find, this beautiful teacup and saucer would make a great addition to any teacup collection/display as well as a Mother's Day or special occasion gift for a collector. Absolutely gorgeous. Makes an awesome decor piece.
