Vintage Mid-Century Modern Joseph VonTury Pottery scallop shell shaped flower dish/tray, from the 1970's.
Made of porcelain, this bowl is decorated with a hand painted light green and brown flower and leaves on a light green background. F. J. Von Tury. is one of the twentieth century's master potters. Hand thrown in porcelain it is hand-decorated with a light green flower and browns and leaves. In excellent - condition with no cracks, chips, crazing, or issues of note. Inscribed with the artist's signature (Vontury) on the bottom. Measures approximately 6 ½” long 6 ½” wide 1” deep. This rare vintage piece is a beautiful addition to anyone's collection and a beautiful mid-century modern decor piece.
Francis Joseph von Tury (1901 - 1992) was a fourth-generation Hungarian potter. After emigrating to the US in 1929 he invented a unique "single firing" process for porcelain which is now the standard. Equally renowned for his talent as an artisan - his work initially gained fame at the 1935 and 1939 World Fairs. Throughout the balance of his lengthy career "Joe" maintained an atelier studio while consulting with porcelain manufacturers worldwide. Along with creating bodies of work for partners such as Georg Jensen. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Smithsonian Institute.

Whenever possible we use recycled or reused material, sourcing boxes and packing materials from family, friends, and local businesses. We always take the cost of postage into consideration when pricing items and multiple orders can also be combined to save on shipping costs.
