Vintage Satsuma Style Moriage Dragon Ware Vase, Cobalt Blue, Hand Painted, Made in Japan

This vintage Satsuma Moriage Dragon Ware Vase is simply beautiful. Moriage is a technique used to create three-dimensional effects on pottery and other objects, and can refer to a type of Japanese porcelain. Moriage is a meticulous technique that involves layering enamel or diluted clay to create a textured, raised surface. The result resembles cake frosting.

Marked on the bottom, "Made in Japan", this vase measures approximately 6-1/4" tall, 2-1/2" in diameter on the bottom and 4" in diameter in center of vase. This vase is in very good vintage condition, no chips, cracks or repairs but does show some signs of wear on the gold trim (See photos), but does detract from the beauty of the piece. Great gift for a collector, or as an addition to any collection or display.
