Made in Japan, the Blue Danube pattern was designed in 1951, drawing inspiration from Germany's Meissen Blue Onion pattern. These cups were typically crafted from porcelain, ensuing a smooth, non-reactive surface to preserve the tea's flavor. Suitable for tea or coffee, these cups are highly collectible and are a rare find. They feature a blue floral background on a white background. In excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or staining, they are marked on the bottom "Blue Danube".
These cups measure approximately 3-1/4" H x 4-1/2" W and have unique and interesting shape and handles. A desirable set for any collector of Blue Danube as well as a blue onion pattern lover. Fabulous addition to any dining table -- adding a bit of nostalgic blue and white decor.
