Rare Upsala-Ekeby, Gefle, Sweden Porcelain Covered Butter / Cheese Dish, Circa 1950's

Vintage 1950's Swedish Upsala- Ekeby Gelfle Pottery cheese dish or lidded butter dish, Blue-Floral Mid Century Modern. The dish measures approximately 8" wide and 5-1/8'' tall (to the knob on lid), and is a fabulous addition to any collection or display. The lid is marked " Upsala-Ekeby, Made in Sweden, 651 "on the inside and the plate is marked "Upsala-Ekeby, Made in Sweden,551 " on the bottom.

This piece was made by Gelfle Pottery, which is part of the Upsala-Ekeby group. The design of the pattern is very similar to "Blatt Band" (blue ribbon or band), which was designed by Arthur Percy. This design has a few subtle differences but still as lovely. It is in very good condition -- the lid has some minor crazing but it does not detract from beauty of the piece. If anything, it adds to the charm, (see photos)
