This piece is a Meissen (hard paste) porcelain pedestal plate/cake stand featuring a reticulated (pierced) rim and hand-painted floral designs. It stands on a pedestal base, also adorned with floral motifs and gilding. The term "KPM" refers to Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin), a renowned German porcelain manufacturer founded in 1763.
This plate features hand-painted floral designs in the center of the plate -- the flowers include orange, yellow, and purple, and pink colorful blossoms. It also has a pedestal base with ornate detailing and gilding.
The bottom of the pedestal
is marked "KPM", and the company's mark, which is typically a cobalt blue scepter. Based on the style and manufacturer, this plate could date from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The plate measures approximately 5-1/2" H x 8-3/4"in Diameter. This pedestal plate is functional as well as very collectible. A rare find, it's simply beautiful. Perfect decor piece, or awesome gift. You'll not likely find another!
