Antique 1890's Hand Painted Wavecrest Opalware dresser box, C.F. Monroe Company, Victorian/Art Nouveau style

A large Victorian/Art Nouveau style Wavecrest hand-painted pink, green florals in raised enamel with brass ormolu fittings hinged collar and hinged lid dresser box. Simply beautiful. Commonly used during a time when clothing was handmade and collars and cuffs were often purchased separately and stored in such boxes until they were needed.

Primarily manufactured between 1880 and 1890, this 100+ year old piece is in excellent vintage condition. Measures approximately 7" wide x 5" tall. Not marked, with no chips, cracks or repairs. The hinge and ormolu collar are in excellent condition. No attempt to polish the ormolu, there is no interior lining and there has been no need or effort to alter this piece in any way. A great period-accurate decor piece, and makes an awesome gift or a fabulous addition to any collection or display.

Opalware is a type of tempered glass known for its opaque, milky white appearance—often with decorative patterns. It is valued for being lightweight, durable, break- and chip-resistant, and non-porous.

Unique and rare, this late 1800's Wavecrest dresser box is priced well below it's true collector's value.
