Vintage Yankoware Ceramic Cockatoo Parrot Figurine/ Flower Frog, Made in Japan, Colorful Majolica Style

Vintage Yankoware ceramic Cockatoo Parrot figurine/flower frog made in Japan, Circa 1925-1940. This colorful bird is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs. (There is some crazing on the base due to age, but it does not detract from the beauty of the piece -- we actually think it adds charm.

The bird's color are still vibrant and beautiful. It is stamped "Made in Japan" on the bottom and measures approximately 9" tall x 5" across x 4-1/4" wide. A decorative item or planter/flower frog (given the holes in the base), this Cockatoo Parrot would be an awesome addition to any collection or display as well as a fabulous decor piece. Can be used as a decorative piece by itself or as a planter/flower frog.

Yankoware refers to a brand of colorful, majolica-style pottery from Japan that was produced between approximately 1925 and 1940. Characteristics include vibrant colors -- pieces are often painted with bright, distinct colors, Majolica style -- items like flower frogs, vases, and planters mimic the look of Italian maiolica pottery. Popular designs include birds, jungle animals, flowers like wisteria, and illustrations of children. Underside is typically marked "Made in Japan".
