Vintage Porsgrund Norway Serving Platter, Farmers Rose Folk Art, 12"

This vintage "Farmer's Rose" pattern oval serving platter by Porsgund, a Norwegian porcelain manufacturer, is elegant and beautiful. It measures approximately 12-1/2"L x 7-1/2" W. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, crazing, or stains. The colors are bold and vibrant and the 24k gold trim is solid all the way around. This Farmers Rose pattern, (also known as Bondermonster) design is based on rosemaling, a traditional Norwegian decorative folk art -- rosemaling means 'rose painting' or 'decorative painting' and consists mainly of painted or wood-carved floral designs. Interesting fact, although flowers compose a large part of the rosemaling designs, there are actually no distinctive roses in most rosemaling patterns.

Made in Norway, this platter is stamped on the back, "Norway, Anchor Logo, 2001". This discontinued pattern features a floral pattern of blues, yellows, greens, reds, and pinks, with 24kt gold trim around the scalloped edge. This platter is made from Norwegian porcelain and are known for their elegant design, and durability.
